HealthLink’s business is about connecting people, reliably, efficiently and accurately. HealthLink Online Referrals connects primary and secondary care; ensuring that the handover of information is efficient, accurate, and timely. In most parts of the world this communication is done by post, fax or phone and in some cases, simply fails to occur. Laborious, time-consuming and prone to error, always requiring extreme precision, the referrals process is one of the most difficult day-to-day healthcare processes to automate in any meaningful way. HealthLink has pioneered the implementation of electronic referrals, status updates and discharge summaries in a number of areas catering for the varying levels of technology enablement.
HealthLink’s Online Referrals service allows the selection of a specific referral type and the automated assembly of all the information needed within that referral, or appended to it.
Once the referrer has completed the referral, it is sent to the intended hospital, specialist facility, allied health professional; or other healthcare service provider that the GP has selected.
The facility receiving the referral acknowledges receipt of the incoming referral; so that the sender has certainty that Transfer of Care has been achieved.
Using a single common technology platform, HealthLink has developed a range of Online Referrals systems for referring to hospitals, specialists and allied health provider organisations.
HealthLink offers a range of services that enable streamlined ordering and reporting of radiology services. HealthLink is the leading provider of radiology reporting services in both Australia and New Zealand.
HealthLink offers Medinexus; a service that links HealthLink’s electronic radiology reports to online imaging databases so that the report recipient can elect to access and view a specific image without the need to store it locally.

CareSelect is a tool that makes it possible for GPs to quickly search, find and refer a patient to the most suitable specialist, allied health provider or non-governental organisation (NGO) for a specific need. With CareSelect, specialists, allied health providers and NGOs can be recognised for their expertise in a way not previously possible and they can receive comprehensive referrals electronically with compatible EMR software.

Pathology Ordering and Pathology Reporting are two extremely important aspects of healthcare delivery. HealthLink’s pathology ordering service (eLab) and our reporting services are widely used across the New Zealand and Australian health sectors.
eLab, HealthLink’s pathology ordering system, includes the automated selection of groups of tests for a particular illness or condition. Automated ordering of pathology services increases the accuracy with which information is entered into the laboratory’s computer system and the speed and efficiency with which the requests can be processed and the results reported.
HealthLink’s pathology result reporting system adheres to international communications standards and it is integrated into the electronic medical records systems of the recipients’ electronic medical records (EMR) systems so that information can be automatically brought into the core patient record, stored within it and reused for a wide range of clinical purposes.

GP2GP
When you want to change GP, either through choice or because you are moving home, it is really useful to be able to transfer your medical records to your new general practice. Until recently, this has not been possible. A patient’s new general practice had to scan in records or simply start again from scratch. GP2GP is a new, highly efficient mechanism for transferring patient’s records from practice to practice. GP2GP has been developed by Patients First, a division of General Practice New Zealand. HealthLink provides the network and support desk.
NHI Lookup
For twenty years New Zealand has had in place a National Health Identifier Number (NHI) . The NHI system is very important as its use ensures that patient records aren’t mixed up and can be exchanged efficiently and easily. HealthLink provides authorised healthcare providers online access to the National Health Index.

NIR Register
New Zealand's National Immunication Register (NIR) is a registry of New Zealand children and their vaccination status. HealthLink provides the electronic messaging system utilised by the NIR.
Electronic messaging is the lifeblood of a health sector. By automating routine flows of patient information, HealthLink has streamlined delivery of care and increased the health system’s ability to manage patients’ needs.
HealthLink provides a practice with all available messaging services as part of its standard service package. Commonly used electronic messages include pathology and radiology reports, electronic discharge summaries, specialist reports and electronic claims.
Most Australasian general practices are increasingly reliant on electronic messaging which is steadily replacing paper, phone and fax; thereby becoming the health sector’s preferred method of communication.
