In partnership with St Vincent Mater Hospital, Eastern Sydney Division of General Practice and South Eastern Sydney Division of General Practice , HealthLink and a number of technical partners are on the verge of delivering a huge step forward for eHealth as the Eastern Sydney Connect Project gears to deliver stage 1 in the form of secure HL7 Discharge Summaries and GP Referrals.
HealthLink, Smarthealth and Emerging Systems are collaborating on this project to deliver a technically robust solution. Discharge Summaries and GP Referrals are just two of the NEHTA document types identified in the Wave 2 Projects that will contribute to the development of the Personally Controlled eHealth Record (PCEHR). General Practitioners in these metropolitan regions of Sydney are excited at the prospect of seamlessly communicating with St Vincent’s via HealthLink and anticipating the efficiencies in practice management of patient information and care it promises to deliver. Healthcare consumers are equally excited by the project and the opportunity to share access to their health information with their healthcare providers.
As part of these DOHA Funded Projects, HealthLink is delivering the foundations of Secure Message Delivery (SMD) in line with the Australian standard developed between industry and NEHTA. In early 2012, HealthLink will become Australia’s lead SMD compliant service provider connecting Health Care Providers and Health Care Services Australia wide. “What underpins the success of these projects is the cost-free and well-supported eHealth infrastructure that HealthLink offers to Australian GPs”, states Geoffrey Sayer, HealthLink Head of Operations. “HealthLink offers the most sustainable model for Secure Message Delivery”.
